What is Type 2 Diabetes?
"Type 2 diabetes, once called non-insulin-dependent diabetes, is the most common form of diabetes, affecting 90% to 95% of the 26 million Americans with diabetes. What Is Type 2 Diabetes?Unlike people with type 1 diabetes, the bodies of people with type 2 diabetes make insulin. But either their pancreas does not make enough insulin or the body cannot use the insulin well enough. This is called insulin resistance.
When there isn't enough insulin or the insulin is not used as it should be, glucose (sugar) can't get into the body's cells. When glucose builds up in the blood instead of going into cells, the body's cells are not able to function properly. Other problems associated with the buildup of glucose in the blood include:Damage to the body. Over time, the high glucose levels in the blood can damage the nerves and small blood vessels of the eyes, kidneys, and heart and lead to atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries that can cause heart attack and stroke.Dehydration. The buildup of sugar in the blood can cause an increase in urination, causing dehydration."

Treat it Naturally...
With Food
The goal of treatment in diabetes as in any other disease should be to find the root cause of the problem, to remove any agents that are assaulting the body.and reverse the negative processes and repair the organs involved.
In diabetes the primary problematic substance is sugar. The first thing to do is to look at the amount and type of the dietary consumption of sugar (including processed and packaged foods.) A proper nutritious diet containing natural sugars in moderation such as in a raw vegetable or Paleolithic diet will help balance the glucose and repair the damaged organs.
"The body knows how to repair itself. It needs to be given the proper tools to get the job done."
The foods that should be eaten are foods that stabilize blood sugar and that repair the effected organs. Below are a list of foods that help stabilize blood sugar:
Blood sugar stabilizing foods:
-Vinegar
-*Leafy greens
-Cinnamon
-Cloves
-*Avocado
-Apples
-Mellons
-*Oats
-Protein (healthy proteins: broiled or grilled fish, raw nuts, beans...)
-*Olive oil
-*Tumeric
-Okra
In order to best stabilize your blood sugar it is important to properly combine your foods.
Do not eat a variety of fruits together as in a fruit salad with diabetes as fruit is high in sugar. Separate the fruit.
For example: Choose a fruit and put it on a salad with leafy greens, and a vinaigrette and a protien.
Eat a fruit with a handful of almonds.
Avoid all processed foods and white sugars especially candy. Avoid artificial sugars.
There are many foods that can help with blood sugar. If you know of any that are not listed, please let us know and we will add them to the list.
The organ most involved with regulating blood sugar is the pancreas. The pancreas releases insulin which tells the muscles to take up glucose. Foods that help repair the pancreas are:
-All types of Greens
-Sweet potatoes
-Tofu
-Chinese Cabbage
-Red Cabbage
-Cucumbers
-Okra
-Brussel sprouts
-Blueberries
-Broccolli
-Garlic
With Exercise
The muscles help control glucose levels in the blood because they absorb glucose from the blood and utilize the glucose for energy. Along with a healthy diet, the next best thing you can do to maintain healthy muscles is exercise. Exercising can be modified based on your capability level.
Exercising helps to breakdown fats and sugars; metabolize and allow the body to use the nutrients it gets; And in an article published in the journal Science Translational Medicine, there is research that shows that exercising produces vitamin that promotes the release of insulin.
